When you call HTP Pest for a termite inspection, we begin with a homeowner consultation and then a thorough termite inspection. A termite inspection is a visual inspection of all the readily accessible interior and exterior areas of a home. Our experienced pest technicians look for evidence of wood-destroying insects and wood-destroying organisms. After the termite inspection has been performed, we report the findings. If termites are found, we present our custom recommendations for termite control and removal if necessary. The average termite inspection typically takes about 30 to 45 minutes depending on the size and conditions of the residence.
Identifying Eastern Subterranean Termites
Eastern subterranean termite colonies consist of three different castes; workers, soldiers and swarmers. All subterranean termites are generally a translucent, creamy white color in appearance. The swarmers are often mistaken for flying ants as they have a pair of even-sized wings. The workers look similar but are a little smaller than the swarmers and do not have wings. Also wingless, the soldiers have over-sized heads as well as large, crushing mandibles.
Termite Control Treatment
One of the main behavioral traits of termites and termite colonies is their tendency to avoid bright lights and open air. Subterranean termites prefer to stay underground or within wooden structures. This means that even if you don’t see any obvious termite damage, it doesn’t mean there aren’t termites eating away at your home. If you do stumble across termites, it is important you do not attempt to remove them yourself as this can often just scare them to move to other hidden areas of your home and escalate the problem even further. It is best to call a professional like HTP Pest!
